Approach

My approach

I use an integrative method. I will adapt and choose the approach based on what you want to work on and on my assessment of what will be the most effective for you. Each approach is composed of different set of tools, which can also be used together.

1. Psychodynamic

In Person Centered Therapy, I guide, support and restructure your journey to finding solutions within yourself. The philosophy behind this approach is that everyone of us has the capacity and desire to improve ourselves. In this therapy the empathy and acceptance of the therapist fosters an environment for self-improvement.

2. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

The Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) model is simple and brings us to actively work together on skills and identifying and modifying thoughts and behaviors which are obstructing your healthy functioning.

Our thoughts, emotions and behaviors are all interconnected. Our thoughts determine how we feel and how we behave. Thus, by modifying distorted thoughts, behaviors and feelings will also become more functional and induce an amelioration in wellbeing.

3. Schema Therapy

It is an integrative approach that uses among others- elements of the above mentioned types of therapy. The center point of this therapy is awareness, change and healing of unhelpful patterns developed in childhood to cope with unmet emotional needs. The goal is to reinforce your stronger and healthier side and incorporate new ways of coping that are not destructive or overwhelming.

4. Mindfulness

Mindfulness is a learned skill to lead one’s life by being more conscious in the present moment and living in a more intentional way while keeping a neutral point of view. It is a practice that includes meditation exercises and other more informal ones.

5. Psychodynamic

The Psychodynamic approach to therapy is based on a deep interpersonal and authentic relationship between the patient and the therapist.

Our unconscious can hinder our healthy functioning. My goal with this style of therapy is to work with you to unveil the parts of your unconscious, the emotions or fantasies, that are standing in your way. Understanding your deeper unconscious processes leads to a psychological relief and resolutions of internal conflicts.
